It is necessary to act as soon as possible in order to fight against climate change, above all a recent study from Eurobarometro showed that Europeans citizens are really concerned about the issues related to climate, such as global warming.

This last phenomenon is transforming our environment, increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. A recent Special Report from the e Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2018) demonstrated that human action has a strong impact on global warming. It also states that without stepping up international climate action, global average temperature could continue rising dangerously.

The European strategy to fight climate change is meant to set the direction of travel of EU climate and energy policy, and to frame what the EU considers as its long-term contribution to achieving the Paris Agreement (2015) temperature objectives.

The Paris Agreement requires strong and swift global action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it also has the goal to achieve a balance between emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases on a global scale in the second half of this century.

The EU, responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, is a global leader in the transition towards a net-zero-greenhouse gas emissions economy. The clean energy transition has spurred the modernisation of the European economy: a great example of this achievement is the use of renewable energy that is constantly increasing in the EU.

It is the responsibility of the Countries and the EU (in his regional space) to act in order to protect its citizens against climate change. There is the need of a complete transformation of the economy through long-term planning, by improving knowledge of the opportunities for transforming our entire economy and building trust within our society and all economic actors that this change is possible and opportune.
